    CAA News Brief 3/12/2012

    **Stop by Runner’s Alley between now and Wednesday and try on a pair of Altra Zero Drop Footwear and be entered into a drawing throughout New England to win an entry into the Boston Marathon for 2012.  The winner will receive the entry but is responsible for the entry fee.

    Next PUB RUN, THIS Thursday March 15th at 6pm (North Hampton, NH)…Come join us for a easy going run and some food and       refreshments at the North Beach Grill.  Get into the St. Patty’s Day spirit by wearing something GREEN…or everything GREEN(don’t scare small children) and you will be entered into a raffle for a cool prize!…Directions to North Beach Grill go tohttp://northbeachbar.com/ .  Hope to see you there!


    Congratulations to everyone who participated in the St. Paddy’s Day 5 miler and to the people who were helping out by volunteering.  Congrats to Stephanie Crawford for taking the Women’s title…and to Chris Ritchie, Hunter Bennett-Daggett, Ryan Marshall, Stephanie Brewer, Tim Roache, Catherine Raynes, David Ritchie, Kevin Appleton for all finishing in the top 3 in their age groups!

    UPCOMING CAA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES…always good to give back to the running community through volunteering…here are some upcoming water-stops that CAA is sponsoring and needs your help…it’s a great opportunity for both kids and adults.

    *Sunday, March 25thEastern States, located at Mile 4(Foyes Corner). Please arrive at 10:45, will be cleaned up and gone by 11:45.
    *Saturday, April 6th, Great Bay Half Marathon, Mile 6(ish) on Dame Road.  Please arrive at 10:30, we will be cleaned up and gone by 12:30 at the latest.

    Do you know someone who would like to begin running or get back into running shape? Never done a 10k and would like to have a group to train with? Runner’s Alley is launching their spring training groups…
    Portsmouth Susan G. Komen Beginner 5K Group:

    • Begins Sunday, March 18th
    • Meets every Wednesday & Sunday morning @ 9:00am for 8 weeks
    • Training for the Susan G. Komen 5K May 12th in Portsmouth

    Portsmouth Beginner 5K Group:

    • Begins Monday, April 2nd
    • Meets every Monday & Wednesday @ 6:00pm at the store for 8 weeks
    • Training for the Runner’s Alley/Redhook 5K on May 27th

    Portsmouth Beginner 10K Group:

    • Begins Tuesday, March 27th
    • Meets every Tuesday & Thursday @ 6:00pm with an optional Saturday @ 8:00am for 11 weeks
    • Training for the Market Square Day 10K June 9th in Portsmouth

    Dover Beginner 5k Group

    • Begins Tuesday, April 3rd
    • Meets every Tuesday & Thursday @ 6:00pm for 8 weeks at Seacoast Kettlebell in Dover at 23 Horne St.
    • Training for the Runner’s Alley/Redhook 5K on May 27th

    FUN TRAIL RUN for the adventurousBig A 50K Trail Race. The 2012 race has been set for Saturday May 5th, with a 7:30 AM start. The race course is expected to be the same as last year(loops), but might be slightly modified because of recent tree clearing around the summit of Mount Agamenticus. Entry will be limited to the first 50 runners who confirm their entry by sending a check for $10 (or more if you feel inclined) made out to: MOUNT AGAMENTICUS CONSERVATION

    Your check amount is fully tax deductible and goes directly towards conservation efforts in the Mount Agamenticus conservation district.

    Wallis Sands Half Marathon GROUP RUN…We will gather as a group and run the Wallis Sands half marathon course on Saturday, April 13th at 8am. We will put out a few water stops and have some bagels/food at the end. Please let us know if you are planning on joining us by sending an email tocoastalrunner@comcast.net so we can have enough water/gatorade/food. Also, if you live on the course and would like to help us by putting out a water stops at your house, let us know.

    Have you renewed???? Thank you to those who have…Yes, there are still some of you that have not. If you have not renewed by 4/15, we will assume you no longer want to be a part of the club and will take you of the CAA membership list but we certainly hope to hear from you, since we are a smaller club and don’t put on races to make money, we depend on membership dues to keep the club “running’ Thank you.
