    CAA newsbrief 4/17/12

    A HUGE congratulations to all of our fellow CAA runners who ran the Boston Marathonon Monday in the extreme weather.  What an amazing accomplishment, I’m sure you all have a few stories to share about your experience.

    Thank you to everyone that helped at theGreat Bay Half Marathon waterstop!  It was one of the BEST waterstops on the course! and the most entertaining!

    ???Does anyone know the scoop regarding the causeway on the way to New Castle closing this Friday, April 19th?  Is it going to impact our Saturday morning run around the loop?  If anyone has any information, please email it to coastalrunner@comcast.net

    NEW SINGLETS HAVE ARRIVED…our new singlets have arrived and are now at Runner’s Alley..for $15(men and womens sizes available)…and while you are there pick up a great performance hat for $15 or long sleeve top for $20!
    OLD white singlets will be on sale at the next track workout for $5(April 24th)…a variety of odd sizes available!

    Track Workouts have STARTED, Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm at the Portsmouth High School(come at 6:15 to warm up) Coach Dan and Coach Paul have some new things up their sleeves this year, join in to find out what it’s all about
    If you are new to track workouts and are not sure what trackworkouts are about…we will be having…

    Introduction to Track Workouts…Tuesday, April 24th at 6:15 and Niel McCaffrey will be leading…

    This is for people with no previous knowledge of speed workouts and would like to learn more about the great and supportive coaching you can enjoy. CAA track workouts on Tuesdays are very inclusive and pair you with runners of your ability.  You and your group push each other in an encouraging way.

    Here are some of the topics that will be covered on Tuesday:
    • Track layout, surfaces, lanes and distances
    • Track etiquette and the few rules you need to know about
    • Proper pacing, recovery, splits and stretching
    • Types of workouts
      • Intervals
      • Pyramids
      • Repeats
      • Strides
      • Ladders
      • Pacing Challenges
      • and even Yasso 800
    • We will get on the track and do aneasy and fun 15 minute session to start you off

    WEEKLY RUNS
    Don’t forget our new Monday night run at BG’s Boathouse at 6pm…a great 4-5 mile run and a little hanging out on the deck afterwards…there is also a group that runs out of Redhook Brewery on Monday nights at 6pm from Winner’s Circle Running Club and CAA.

    There is a group of runners that runs from Runner’s Alley on Thursday nights at 6pm except when there is a pub run!

    Tuesday night TRACK WORKOUTS, Portsmouth High School track…6:15 warm-up!

    Saturday mornings…8am…our most popular run!  A variety of distances, a variety of paces and a variety of runners!  As well as a great way to start off your weekend.

    Next Pub Run,APRIL 26th…Mark your calenders and get ready to cross the border for the next CAA pub run, Thursday, April 26th to run 4-5 miles around beautiful Kittery Point, Maine…at Captain and Patty’s on Rt. 103 at 6pm.
